Bellator MMA™ was founded in 2008 and is one of the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions. Bellator has a vision to enhance the fight business and offer the most exciting sporting events for fans and viewers across the globe, while featuring some of the top-athletes in the world. Bellator will uphold the value of the sport and its fighters, while uniting them like no other organization can with the goal of expanding and showcasing the personality and showmanship that makes MMA the most exciting sport in the world.

Headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., Bellator is owned by American global mass media company Viacom, with Scott Coker at the helm of Bellator serving as the company president. Bellator currently airs in over 140 countries around the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, The United Kingdom, France, Russia, and several African nations.

Bellator airs live on Spike TV and made its Spike debut on in January of 2013. Bellator has continued to reach over 100 million homes on a weekly basis since airing on Spike TV. Additional exclusive Bellator content, Bellator shoulder programming, highlights and reality based series airs on Spike TV and Bellator.com.

In May 2014, Bellator hosted the company’s inaugural pay-per-view event from the Landers Center. The event featured a Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Final fight between Rampage Jackson and Mo, Michael Chandler vs. Will Brooks for the Lightweight Interim World Title, and a Light Heavyweight affair between Alexander Shlemenko vs. and MMA icon Tito Ortiz.

The word “Bellator” means “warrior” in Latin.
